PCRepairMom Reviews Technology

I’ve been inspired to document all the things that I've encountered that work for me, my family, and friends. Specifically on things that work really well to make life a little easier, safer, or healthier for busy people; putting technology to work so that we can focus on what is important. I’m a woman, wife, student, employee, adventurer, but most precious I'm a mommy to 8 yo M, 7 yo KJ, and 2 yo C. I work on computers, train in software, and play with all the gadgets hubby brings home.

Organically clean baby!

Episencial has become my favorite company for all things clean baby. My favorite so far is the peaceful bubbles. The smell is glorious-a subtle combination of lavender, aloe and fruits. It is so gentle on my baby's skin and even on my toddlers. Nevermind that it helps to calm the kids who are bathing in it, but it does wonders to calm mommy who has to bathe the children in it! Bubble baths are fun with the big bubbles and we don't have to use a lot to get it all going. The playful foaming wash is another great gentle cleanser that has a nice light scent of fruits mostly. It worked great to relieve my son's cradle cap without drying out his fine baby hair. Along with a clean baby must come a moisturized baby and this is also where another one of my favorites comes in, their skin cream called Soothing Cream is fantastic. It relieved my children's rashes from grass irritation immediately. It also relieved my baby of some skin irritations and dry patches. My eczema is helped by this product also. There is no scent to it, so you continue to have the lovely smell of the cleansers without another scent on top! On top of all these great things, its organic and totally free of those nasty parabens, preservative, petroleums and the sort. I feel better about using these products on my kids. I can also afford to purchase these products, they are moderately priced and available at Target, giving me yet another reason to wander their aisles, as if I really needed one! I did not receive compensation for writing this post.

Warm Bottles on the Road

In April of this year, our third child came into this world. With four years between our middle and youngest, its been a long time since I've had to shop for baby gear! The things on the market today are just as amazing as they were several years back. Of all the things I don't need, there are so many that I could somehow find a use for I'm sure, but I am holding myself back. I am attempting to simplify life and keep the house as clutter free as possible. One thing that I really wanted to find was a bottle warmer that allowed the ability to warm a bottle without having to hunt down boiling water in some random place when the baby was ready to eat. I went online and went through all the options there were, not many. Bambinoz seemed to have exactly what I was looking for. When the product arrived at my house I was so excited to try it out to find out if it actually worked. It is a reusable pad filled with crystals that when activated goes from cold/room temperature to hot in minutes at the snap of a small disk. You will wrap the pad around any bottle and place both into the insulated carrier for 8-10 minutes. When you are through warming the bottle, you will place the reusable pad into boiling water on top of a cloth and boil back to its original state for 5 minutes. I was amazed, it worked, it really worked. I can see us using this for bottles as well as warming containers of food for the baby or our other children on the road. Very convienent and so easy to use.

No more training wheels

Gyrobike has developed the latest product that aids in teaching our little one's to ride bicycles sans training wheels. The wheel comes in 2 sizes to fit bikes for kids from age 3 to about 6. It is rechargable which is fantastic since kids like to ride for long periods of time and can kill a battery easily. The length of time for each charge is pretty good too. Out of the box and on to the bike was so easy and quick - its just a simple wheel change. We purchased our gyrowheel about 4 years ago and are now training our second child on it. The initial ride for both of the children was of fear, "I'm going to fall down!" is what they both said. What gave them some confidence that this wouldn't happen? We turned on the wheel and let go of the bike. It stood on its own for about 15 seconds and then slowly started to tip! This time, we had our son riding on an long ago abandoned track with lots of room to make wide turns and long straight lines. It was an excellent site to see, he had the biggest grin on his face all the way around the track. Within 30 minutes he was riding without training wheels!

New Smile Technology Part 4

Well it has been over a year since I received my first set of aligners and I have to say I am overall pleased with the results. I had finished the first series of aligners and the doctor wasn't happy with how almost straight my teeth had turned out, there was one tooth that would not budge. So I am now in the second stage of aligners and fine tuning how everything looks. I've grown accustomed to brushing after every snack and meal. I've gone through so many tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes and yards of floss. I am so used to having the aligners in that when they aren't my mouth feels awkward. In 4 weeks I go in for another evaluation where I will find out if I can stop wearing these all day long and only wear a set of retainers at night. I'll be curious to see how my mouth will feel then!
