PCRepairMom Reviews Technology

I’ve been inspired to document all the things that I've encountered that work for me, my family, and friends. Specifically on things that work really well to make life a little easier, safer, or healthier for busy people; putting technology to work so that we can focus on what is important. I’m a woman, wife, student, employee, adventurer, but most precious I'm a mommy to 8 yo M, 7 yo KJ, and 2 yo C. I work on computers, train in software, and play with all the gadgets hubby brings home.

Cleaner Cat Box

I've decided to give the automatic litter box a whirl for my kitty cats.  I am parent to 2 aged kitties, ages 11 and 13, and in being they have entered these mature years, they have become very picky about how clean the litter box is for them the next time they need it.  My husband and I just cant keep it clean enough it seems.

So on my trip to the local pet store I decided to peruse the litter box aisle.  Faced with 2 types of automatic litter boxes, I began reading.  At that very moment the manager of the store happened to walk up and fall victim to my line of questioning.  In the end I decided to go with the Brilliant Pet Ultra ScoopFree Self-Cleaning Litter Box for a few reasons - according to the manager it was the one that got returned the least, the raking motion was more gentle so the deposits would get pushed into the collector instead of mashed up, and it was on sale.  There is a nice return policy as well so if my picky poopers decide this isn't for them or the thing doesn't work as promised, I can go with something else.

You can change the interval times that the cat box cleans itself at intervals of your choosing from 5, 10 or 20 minutes.  If really stinky set to 5, to have the solids really dry up before the rake cleans it, set it to 20.  The litter trays should last a few weeks and are disposable, the whole tray.  The trays come pre-filled with the right amount of crystal litter.  There is also a counter feature that lets you know how many times its been used so you can monitor how much the cats go - if too much or too little, might be indicative of a health problem.  The power cord is super long, 10 feet I believe.

This is day 1.  Installation and setup was super easy.  Recommended acclimation was to put some litter the cats are used to in with the crystals.  They also recommend putting the old box next to the new one and just stop cleaning it.  I'm going to try just adding our usual litter in with the crystals to see how it goes.  I will report back in a few days!
I did not receive compensation for this post.
